Album Review: Anti-Machine - Anti-Machine EP

I wrote a short review of NYC hardcore punk band Anti-Machine's self-titled RP for No Echo's Best Hardcore of 2021 list. Thanks to Carlos for letting me write about music that I'm excited about for his site for another year. Check out what I had to say about the album below:

Album Review: Xalpen - Sawken Xo'on

I wrote about an extremely ugly black metal album for No Echo today. Xalpen is a Chilean band who named their debut LP Sawken Xo'on which means "3 Shaman" in the language of a now extinct Patagonian tribe. It only gets weirder and more barbaric from there. Check out thoughts on the album below:

Album Review: Dead Heat - World At War

I wrote a review of the latest album from Oxnard's Dead Heat, and as is my want, I went a little over the top. I'm like Sylvester Stallone writing about hardcore. Handsome, charismatic, maybe a little egotistical... oh yeah, and I don't know when to shut the hell up. Maybe you'll get something out of my review, maybe you won't You should listen to World At War either way, because it is fuckng popping off!

Album Review: Farmaco - Descolonizar

Farmaco is a hardcore band from Argentina whose blend of d-beat, Japanese punk, and British speed metal. Descolonizar is fucking raw and amazing and I can't recommend it enough. You read my review over on No Echo. Links below:

Album Review: God's Hate - God's Hate

My review of God's Hate's second LP God's Hate went live on No Echo today. It seemed to get a pretty good response. The band's drummer wrote on Twitter, "These are the reviews you hope for when spending countless hours writing an album." The bands I write about don't have to like the things I say about them, but when they do, they can have some pretty nice things to say back. If you want to check the review out for yourself, links are below:

Album Review: Gravesend - Methods of Human Disposal

"With the colonizing project of urban spaces ground to a halt at present, the legacy of empty offices and a restless police state has never been more apparent. The real terror, though, is not what is left behind but what will be done to protect it. Gravesend's Methods of Human Disposal is a presaging of the ways in which the powers at be will converge to preserve their investments and make sure that everyone stays right where they belong in the food chain." - Excerpt from my review of the new Gravesend album Methods of Human Disposal published by No Echo. Album Review: Necrot - Mortal

Unburden yourself with the fleeting and false comforts and desires of this world while you embrace the abysmal spiral of the new album from Oakland's Necrot, titled Mortal. My review is over on No Echo. Cast off your illusions and be free.

Album Review: Faim - Hollow Hope

Denver hardcore crew Faim have been tearing it up lately, grabbing a lot of positive attention from for their self titled 7" and split last year. Now they have a debut LP out and it is knuckle-to-nose knockout!

Album Review: Terminal Nation - Holocene Extinction

I've got a review of the debut album from savage Arkansas hardcore band Terminal Nation up on No Echo today. Holocene Extinction is a grinding exhibition of Napalm Death grooves and Dismember chords put to service in a chain-whip laceration of the human sense organs. The band has a special message for humanity in its twilight hour: You did this to yourselves and you'll get what's coming to you. Check out my review here, and grab a copy of Holocene Extinction from 20 Buck Spin here

Album Review: Couch Slut - Take a Chance on Rock 'n' Roll

Couch Slut's Contempt absolutely left me feeling demolished and their latest album Take a Chance on Rock 'n' Roll is just as potent and overwhelming. It's a penetrating meditation on violence and the impact of misogyny that also happens to swing like a wrecking ball. My review is live over at No Echo and you can read it here. Grab a copy of the album from Couch Slut's Bandcamp here

Album Review: Misanthropic Aggression - Alcoholic Polyneuropathic Freaks in Hell

Atlanta's crusty foes of humanity Misanthropic Aggression have dropped a new single for their song "Alcoholic Polyneuropathic Freaks in Hell" out via Boris Records and you can read my review over at No Echo. It's an absolutely savage cacophony of black metal and hardcore that slots perfectly into my mental headspace right now. Check out my review here, and grab a copy of the single here

Album Review: Big Cheese - Punishment Park

My first review for No Echo is now live. I reviewed the new album from UK hardcore revivalists Big Cheese, titled Punishment Park. It like a freight train driving between your ears and absolutely lives up to its name. Check out my review here, and grab a copy from Triple B, here.
